Antony: Brazil exclude Manchester United winger following an alleged physical assault against him by his former partner

Brazil have ‘dropped’ their next superstar Antony, as the swashbuckling winger from Manchester United has been abused of physical assault by his former partner, thus leading to his exclusion from the squad which will play during the international break. Following the allegations, Brazil Football Federation has decided to withdraw the star from the squad as they have mentioned that “facts became public” that “need to be investigated”.

Antony dropped from Brazil squad

Antony, the 23-year old Brazilian winger has been one of the top-grossing stars for the Red Devils since last season. A former product of Ajax, Antony is predominantly known for his exploits in the forward sector, as his skills and techniques has been talk of the town over few months. Owing to his flashy skills in the field which often lead him to breezy goals, Antony has been one of the important players under Erik Ten Hag, as the former Ajax boss is excited to field his former apprentice at the “Theatre of Dreams”.

But, currently, it seems that Antony’s career might receive an exclusive jolt as he has been accused of some serious allegations by his former partner. Brazil news outlet UOL has made them public and police in Brazil and Manchester are looking into the matter, as the star has denied every possible abuse assault, as he was heard saying, “I can calmly state that the accusations are false and that the evidence already produced and the other evidence that will be produced demonstrate that I am innocent of the accusations made. I trust that the ongoing police investigations will demonstrate the truth about my innocence.”

Headbutted, punched

According to Antony’s ex-partner Gabriela Cavallin, the winger was reportedly involved in several tumultuous altercations with her, and has reported incidents of dangerous headbutting in a Manchester hotel on January 15, which involved medical attention. She also accused him of punching on the chest, which demanded corrective surgery. Although Antony has taken to his social media to plead his innocence, he has mentioned that although his relation with Gabriela was “tumultuous”, but he has never taken the route of “physical aggression”.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has been assigned the responsibility of investigating the charges as they have reported their awareness by saying, “aware of the allegations made and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this report. We will not be commenting any further at this time.”

Manchester United declined to comment further on this matter as they would look to explore options and continue investigation after the international break. In the Brazil squad, Antony has been replaced by Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, who was instrumental in spearheading Arsenal’s attack against Manchester United after the Gunners edged past United 3-1, as “Selecao” brace themselves for World Cup Qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru, in the international break.
