Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid: match predictions, line-ups, head-to-head, Time, Date, and Venue

La Liga leaders Barcelona and third-placed Atletico Madrid face off against each other in the next La Liga showdown in Camp Nou, in one of the biggest fixtures of the league, on Sunday.

Barcelona sit comfortably on the top of the table, with eleven points ahead of second placed Real Madrid and would like to extend their lead when they face Simeone’s side tomorrow.

Charged up for title

Although the Blaugranes have seen their title charge dent a bit due to successive draws at Girona and Getafe, respectively, they are well on course to win this season, as Xavi’s men have amassed 73 points till date, winning 23, losing two and having a stalemate four times. Tomorrow, as they face the “Rojiblancos”, they would be pumped up and geared for a win.

In spite of a disappointing European campaign, this season with a group-stage exit from the UEFA Champions League and a playoff round narrow exit in the hands of Manchester United, Xavi and his men have garnered praise worldwide because of its onslaught in the domestic season, with already winning the Supercopa de Espana. They have the best home record this season, collecting 36 points from a possible 42 in 14 games, but they should be aware of the threat Atleti possess with Griezmann and Depay on the frontal attack.

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Team News

Barcelona has announced their squad ahead of their crunch fixture against the capital giants. And to much happiness of the Culers, their most important players, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong are back in the squad after a long hiatus.

Reportedly, Pedri was injured while playing in the first leg of Europa League and was sidelined since then, and his return would definitely boost Barca’s game as they would like to extend their unbeaten streak at home.

Although Barca will be without the services of Andreas Christensen, so the void will probably be filled by Kounde and Araujo, it would be interesting to see how Barca will field the midfield sector, Since Frenkie and Pedri are back, they might form a formidable trio in the middle, as Xavi would like to attack from the whistle.

As for Atletico, trustworthy midfielders Llorente and Kongdobia would be missed due to suspension from yellow cards. Former Barca striker Depay remains a major injury concern as Reinildo is out for the season due to a dangerous injury he picked up. So, Atleti will probably be fielding Morata and Griezmann in the starting line-up.

New face and La Masia graduate Lamine Yamal is the latest prodigy to be featured in the Barca squad, adding to the list of new faces handed debuts by Xavi this season, following Alarcon and Aleix Garrido.
