Busquets: Legend leaves the club, will look for new destination in the next season

Barcelona skipper Sergio Busquets leaves the club, will reportedly depart at the end of the season, on June 30. A legend of the game, he has been the captain of the club this season. He has been an epitome of the club, saving the blushes of the club many times before.

Busquets bids adieu to his favorite club

Sergio Busquets reportedly calls time on his career at his boyhood club Barcelona, where he has faced the ups and downs along with the club, and has flourished in the Catalan colors. A World Cup winner with Spain, he has played with several legends of Barca with Iniesta, Xavi, Messi to name some few.

Part of the formidable midfield trio

Busquets has been an integral part of Barcelona since decades. Once a formidable part of the dangerous troika of Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets, he has played with the legends of the game and took the field with some of the bests in the business. A defensive midfielder by rank, he has gone up the ranks of La Masia, coming to the club in 2005.

Initially a player of the juvenile squad, he was taken into consideration by one of the best coaches of the decade, Pep Guardiola, when he won the sextuple in 2012.

Debuted 15 years back

“Busi”, as lovingly called by Culers, made his league debut in 2008 against Racing Santander , and it was not long before when he became one of the pivotal cogs of Guardiola’s side. He has always mentioned about the honor while serving the “Catalan” badge, as he broadened the horizon of the club while at the club.

After 18 years and 31 trophies, he has finally decided to leave the Catalans to pursue a newer career in the Middle East, most probably Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.

He will be able to lift the 32nd trophy soon as Barca is inching closer to the first La Liga title after four years.

A new destination

Hailed as one of the best midfielders of this generation, the veteran might be a part of Saudi club Al-Hilal, with speculations about MLS side Inter Miami also a probable destination. The lanky midfielder has been on top form this season, playing consistently along with his heirs, Frenkie de Jong and Pedri. His long and legendary career would end up in the best possible way when he will clinch his 32nd trophy in the Catalan shirt, few days later.
