Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr Hires New Portuguese Coach Luís Castro

Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr has hired a brand new coach, and that too, Ronaldo’s fellow countryman from Portugal, Luís Castro. The announcement was officially made earlier on Thursday by the club.

Al-Nassr sign Portuguese coach Luís Castro

The Saudi Pro League club has not disclosed any information about how long the coach will be staying as part of his contract, but the confirmation of the appointment had come from a training camp in Portugal during the preseason period.

The riches in the Saudi Pro League have been overflowing ever since the arrival of elite players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, etc. and it seems that now is the time for an upgrade in coaches of the Arab club.

Luís Castro is not the only new coach hired this same week by Saudi Arabian outfits, earlier Steven Gerrad had been signed by Al-Ettifaq and Jorge Jesus at Al-Hilal, the bitter rivals of Ronaldo’s Al-nassr.

The Portuguese international coach had earlier made his name during his time of two seasons with Shakhtar Donetsk in the war-torn Ukraine, where he had memorable wins, both home and away, against La Liga gianst, Real Madrid during 2020/21 Champions League group rounds.

Luís Castro says Cristiano Ronaldo was the best player

Castro’s last season was spent in Brazil with club Botafogo, and it seems that he is all geared up to travel to Saudi Arabia next. Al-Nassr might finally settle down with a permanent coach this time after being led by Rudi Garcia of France last season and then Croatia’s Dinko Jelicic for interim period.

The 61-year-old Portuguese will be given the responsibility of leading the Saudi giants into the qualifying playoffs for the Asian Champions League in the coming months.

This might be a little handsy task for the coach since Al-Nassr had finished as runners-up in the Saudi Pro League last season. The champions of the league, Al-Ittihad, on the other hand, were coincidentally being managed by another Portuguese Nuno Espírito Santo.
