Real Madrid star Fede Valverde has been dropped off all allegations against him when he was accused of assaulting Villareal star Alex Baena after a game in La Liga. According to Spanish football federation’s jury, he will not be facing any punishment as they have cleared him of all charges.
Valverde stands free of all charges
Reportedly, Valverde and Baena were involved in an ugly altercation on April after the two teams locked horns in one of the penultimate weeks in La Liga. The Uruguayan star was accused of punching Baena on the face as he was waiting in the parking slot to have a face-off. But, earlier this month, the criminal investigation involving Valverde was halted by a judge who cited a lack of evidence against him.
Had Valverde been accused guilty of this charges, he might have been handed a five match ban effective from next season. Lawyers and civil representatives of Valverde and Real Madrid have persuaded the criminal court to drop this ban as well as he has been cleared of all charges, and is not standing guilty. The committee has accepted this situation, as they have been urged to drop the charges, following the suit of the case.
What happened exactly?
The alleged incident happened after Villareal’s surprising victory over Real Madrid, where the “Yellow Submarines” edged the then defending champions 3-2. It was heard that during the match, Baena made some unsolicited remarks against his wife’s unborn child, which came into light after facing some pregnancy complications, which has been denied by Baena and his representatives.
Sources say that Valverde waited by the Villareal team bus at the end of the match, to confront Baena, over his abusive remarks during the game concerning his wife, which further led to an ugly altercation.
Villareal later made a claim that Baena has been assaulted by the Uruguayan star and will be taking the matter to the authorities. Valverde, who has been on top for Real over the last few seasons, has made 34 appearances for “Los Blancos”, and will be further available for selection with Real in their opening game against Athletic Club de Bilbao, on August 12, which will be followed by fixtures against Almeria, Celta Vigo, Getafe and Real Sociedad, respectively.
