Barcelona and French forward Ousmane Dembele has made good progressive talks on his contract renewal for the next season. According to reports, the favorite winger of Barcelona boss Xavi is supposed to sign a new contract, which will see him don the Blaugrana colors for few more years.
Barca and Dembele progressing to sign a contract renewal
Ousmane Dembele has been one of the top players for the Catalans this season. His accurate crosses to his strike partner Robert Lewandowski, his impeccable runs and his dribbling finesse has been the highlights of this season. As quite significant to say, he has a fare share of contribution to the La Liga triumph of Barcelona this season, a joy that Xavi and his army would cherish as it came to Camp Nou after a hiatus of four years.
According to Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Dembele would be looking forward to keep their camaraderie on as the French winger will like to sign a contract renewal before the next season. He had signed a contract last year which will keep him in the club up to 2024, but the release clause might have dropped to 50 million pounds this season, mostly due to Dembele’s injury sabbatical.
But, Xavi and his men are least bothered about that as they are confident of the Frenchman staying in the club for few more years, as his bonhomie in the locker room and with other players is always the talking point for the club. Speaking of it, boss and former legend Xavi made a statement regarding Dembele, which states, “Ousmane is loved in the dressing room, very honest, he jokes all the time. He’s important to me. He can generate chances. Dembele is happy here and wants to stay. He’s always been clear with me on that.”
A contract for four more years?
Barcelona seemed to have sent a contract renewal proposal for four more years, on the table, which will see him light up the Camp Nou till 2027. Both Dembele and his agent Sissoko are looking at the same and are considering and tweaking some changes to the proposed deal.
Barcelona would have loved up to wind up this renewal process before the French winger left for the National squad to represent France in the upcoming 2024 qualifiers against Greece and Gibraltar. But, as national duties also call for responsibility it would be interesting to see what Dembele does after playing two games in the international schedule.
One thing that Xavi and his group is completely sure of is Dembele’s interest to stay in the club for a longer period of time, as he wishes to create a legacy as the “best winger” in La Liga, which might be possible only if he stays for a longer period.
