Kane was substituted on the 63rd minute, when he replaced Mathys Tel.

Kane debuts for Bayern Munich

It is finally the end of Harry Kane’s transfer saga as the English skipper finally got the chance to represent Bayern Munich after some ‘confusing conundrum’ over the last few weeks, which saw him left the English club to join the German champions. Even he had to go through a hold-up procedure before boarding the plane to Germany, as Spurs needed to sort some of the details in their negotiations. Finally, after a hefty lot of speculations and rumors, Kane finally got to the plane and last night, he got the shot at representing Bayern. In his first game, he could have got the opportunity to grab a silverware, finally, as Bayern was playing against RB Leipzig, in the finals of German Super Cup. But, his wait to clinch a trophy will get longer as Bayern was mauled 0-3 by the “Red Bulls”.

Kane immediately joined action for the German champions as he actively participated in training session before the crunch fixture. He was handed the number 9 shirt, which was previously owned by Polish star Robert Lewandowski and several others, thus Kane has huge boots to fill in. It is reported that Kane has signed a deal worth 87 million pounds, which further included add-ons, thus he would be seen donning the Bayern jersey for a period of four years, till 2027.

A sweet welcome gesture for the England captain

Harry Kane, who was soon fielded on the training ground was treated with a warm reception after he stepped on the field. Previously, he took to social media to announce his gratitude and respect for Spurs fans after leaving the club, as he was heard saying, “It’s not a goodbye because you never know how things pan out in the future, but it’s a thank you and I’ll see you soon.”

Reportedly, Bayern saw two of their previous bids getting rejected by Daniel Levy owned club Spurs, after which, the Bundesliga winners submitted an official and final proposal for Premier League’s record goal scorer, which was “reluctantly” accepted by Levy. Kane, who had made his intentions clear of seeking a fresh challenge has finally saw his decision supported by the club.

He further said in his social media account, addressing his fans by telling, “From the moment I’ve been playing I’ve been one of your own and I’ve given everything that I possibly could to make you proud and give you as many special moments and memories to hopefully last forever. This is a message to all you fans around the world, every single Tottenham fan that’s supported me and been with me throughout my journey.”

“I’m very happy”

Kane further added, “Me and my family will cherish it forever, we’ll never forget all the moments we’ve had together so thank you. I felt like it was the time to leave. I didn’t want to go into the season with a lot of unresolved future talk. I think it’s important for the new manager and the players to concentrate on trying to get Tottenham back to around the top of the table and fighting for trophies, so I wish Ange (Postecoglou) and all the boys all the very best of luck. I’ll be watching from a fan point of view now and really hope the team can be successful. “

After joining Bayern, he expressed his elation to join the German heavyweights as he said on their social media, “I’m very happy to be a part of FC Bayern now. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I’ve always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level during my career. This club is defined by its winning mentality – it feels very good to be here. I feel like it was the right step in my career to really push myself and test myself on the highest level so that’s why I’m here and I look forward to that challenge.”

Club chairman Levy, who was reluctant to let his favorite striker go, said, “We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term. Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer. We have reluctantly, therefore, agreed to his transfer. We have seen a product of our academy system become one of the best players to ever pull on a Spurs shirt and become one of world football’s elite strikers. It has been a truly remarkable journey.”

Long-term mate Son pays tribute

As soon as Kane left the squad, his long-term strike partner Son-Heung Min was handed the captain’s armband for the upcoming season. Son, who has been one of the best pals of Kane over their years in Spurs, has paid an emotional yet sweet tribute to him, as he was heard saying, “Leader, brother, legend. Since day one it has been a joy to play by your side. So many memories, amazing games and incredible goals together. Harry, thank you for everything you have given to me, to our club, and to our fans. Wish you nothing but the best in your new chapter. Good luck brother.”

Kane would have loved to win his first silverware after leaving Spurs, but Leipzig’s Dani Olmo had plans to spoil the title celebration party for him, as he scored a flashy hattrick, to hand Leipzig a major glory, thus spoiling Kane’s unveiling at the club, and elongating his wait for a trophy.
