Jadon Sancho: Manchester United star to train “separately” from first team, after refusing to apologize to boss Ten Hag

Manchester United star player Jadon Sancho will be training separately from the first team squad as he is instructed so, until his issues with manager Erik Ten Hag is resolved. He was reportedly asked to apologize to the Dutch gaffer, but as a consequence of his refusal, he is ‘banished’ from training with first team.

Jadon Sancho to train ‘away’ from first team

Jadon Sancho has been one of the favorite boys of English football scenario over the years. Rising through the ranks of English heavyweight Manchester City, he has been a pivotal member for the German giants Borussia Dortmund over the years. When he joined Manchester United in 2021, although few eyebrows were raised due to his switching allegiance from crosstown rivals, but people at Manchester were happy to see their favorite boy back in town.

But, in the last few days, things did not seem to go well between Sancho and Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag. Reportedly, United has lost 1-3 to Arsenal with two last-minute goals from the Gunners which saw the United dreams sink in. In the game, Ten Hag did not include his promising star in the 20-man squad, thus raising questions about his participation in the high-intensity clash against last year’s runners-up. It was the last game before the international break, and as the Dutchman was questioned about his decision not to include Sancho in the squad, he said that the youngster’s training did not meet the requisite standards ahead of a big match. In response to Ten Hag’s remarks, Sancho was quick to refute as he took to social media to express his angst, saying that he has been “a scapegoat for a long time.” He even added that Ten Hag’s remarks were “completely untrue”, thus giving fans and critics subtle hints about a gradually increasing rift between the manager and Sancho.

On refusing to apologize for his remarks, Sancho is compelled to train “away”.

“On a personal training programme”

The club board has released an official statement regarding Sancho’s participation in the next game, as they mentioned, “Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first team group pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.” After the Arsenal defeat, when asked, Ten Hag replied, “Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”

Sancho, 23, had decided to pursue his “United dream” in the Theatre of Dreams in 2021, when he opted for a 73 million pounds switch to United from Borussia Dortmund. He has featured in 58 games for the Red Devils, mustering only nine goals and six assists. He had been battling mental health issues last season and took a break from playing football, but returned with a bang in February when he scored the equalizer against Leeds United, ending the score line 2-2.

After Ten Hag’s statement, Sancho responded brutally, saying, “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!”

With this rift on display, and club football returning this week, it is almost impossible for Sancho to play in this weekend when United faces Brighton on Saturday.
