Jude Bellingham has been on the money for Real Madrid since his first matchday, as he scored a stunner, thus leading Madrid to a comfortable victory in La Liga, against sturdy rivals Athletic Bilbao. Along with Bellingham, it was Brazilian wonderkid who was on the target for the Spanish capital club, thus starting the tournament on a positive note.
Jude Bellingham opens his scoring account in Madrid
Jude Bellingham, the English star, who is renowned for his exceptional ability of scoring monstrous goals in the Bundesliga, has finally announced his arrival on the Spanish soil, after he scored a soothing goal against eternal rivals Athletic Bilbao. He has been one of the top performers for his German side Borussia Dortmund last season, owing to which, he came prominent in Real’s radar, thus the club went for him in this summer transfer window. He has lived up to the expectations of the club board, as he had been brilliant in the pre-season tour for Ancelotti’s men, scoring and assisting for the team. Last night, it was time for La Liga supporters to welcome him in their classic Beatles-esque manner, saying, “Hey Jude”, as he was named in the starting eleven.
Along with Bellingham, it was his Brazilian mate Rodrygo who gave the lead for Ancelotti’s brigade, as Real were upbeat to start the league on a high. It was seen that Real Madrid had dominated the game against a hostile environment at San Mames stadium, home to Bilbao club. In a morbid first 25 minutes when no clear goalscoring opportunities surfaced for both the teams, the game burst into life on the 28th minute, when Rodrygo linked up with Spaniard Dani Carvajal in a Madrid-esque link-up ploy, before sliding the ball past through the legs of Unai Simon.
Bellingham scores the second
Unai Simon had to elevate himself to his World Cup status of star keeper as he had to produce two of the biggest saves in the game within the next few minutes. But, he could not save the shot which Bellingham fired at him, as he had to turn his superhuman mode on, in order to give an attempt of stopping it.
Real got the chance to double the lead when they were awarded a corner, which Alaba went on to take that. Bellingham reached the end of the ball, before volleying the ball on the ground, which cunningly lobbed over Unai Simon, with Bellingham, announcing his arrival in style, after which, he went in front of the Bilbao stands when he was ‘greeted’ with abuses and cusses.
Although the hosts, getting hyped by their fans in the stadium, took several chances to claw their way back in the game, had to encounter a sturdy Andrey Lunin, who was prepared to up the ante as his place of backup keeper is at stake, owing to the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, who will fill in the boots of Thibaut Courtois, who will be sidelined for a majority of the season owing to a grave injury.
Real’s only negative from the game was Eder Militao being substituted off due to injury which he suffered in the beginning of the second half, as Ancelotti’s men would look to claim the title back from the clutches of Barcelona, when they travel to Almeria next weekend.
