Barcelona has yet again loaned one of their promising youngsters to another club, ahead of the season opener, in order to enhance their experience of playing in the elite. After Pablo Torre, who is loaned to Girona, it is time for Mexican promising talent Julian Araujo, who was signed in January this year, to ply his trade in Las Palmas, an outfit from the Canary Islands.
Julian Araujo loaned to Las Palmas
Julian Araujo has been latest in Barcelona’s entourage of upcoming talents. The Spanish champions have been on the headlines over last few seasons for recruiting promising youngsters, who have come on the back of seriously entertaining innings in their previous clubs. Be it Pedri, Ronald Araujo, who have been impressing in the ranks of Barcelona owing to their brilliant performances, the Catalan giants have always been a powerhouse of talents. Julian Araujo, the Mexican star has been on the Barca radar for a considerable amount of time, following which Barca boss Xavi had decided to go for him in January, who has an eye for upcoming bright talents. But, Araujo’s transfer was not authorized by FIFA, as a result of which, he did not get the opportunity to showcase his skills in Camp Nou.
A right back in position, he was signed because of his exploits in the defensive back line, which could have bolstered Barcelona’s guard in front of the goal, which already boasted Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Alejandro Balde and Joules Kounde, the formidable “B-A-C-K”.
Araujo’s only appearance in the Barca colors came in last month, when the Spanish giants faced Japanese side Vissel Kobe in a friendly, in honor of Spanish playmaking legend Andres Iniesta.
Canary Islands welcome their latest defensive recruit
Las Palmas has been promoted to the La Liga this season, thus Araujo’s joining in the side meant he will benefit from the club’s development, when they face top clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid among others. They welcomed Araujo gracefully as official statement in the club’s website read, “Julián Araujo (13/08/2001, Lompoc, California) arrives at the Yellows to reinforce the right wing, following a loan agreement with his current club, FC Barcelona, until 30 June 2024. The right-back is characterized by his power and strength, with plenty of pace and a winner in duels. “
With Barcelona raring to go for a gun right back this season, preferably Joao Cancelo, as it is rumored, with Joules Kounde and Sergi Roberto ahead in the pecking order for Araujo, he might have struggled to get a considerable amount of game time, thus being loaned to Las Palmas might go in his favor.
He will be under the vigilance of former Barca B coach Garcia Pimienta, thus could stand to benefit a greater deal. He did not join Barcelona’s pre-season trip to USA, which was rounded off by the Catalan giants today by defeating AC Milan 1-0, courtesy a screamer from Barca’s own starboy Ansu Fati, as he was involved his national responsibilities, leading his Mexico in the Gold Cup. It will be interesting to see how Araujo fares in the Spanish elite, as he will be under the tutelage of Pimienta, for a season-long deal.
