Bayern Munich and German National Team seems to have a unbreakable camaraderie as they have summoned former manager of the Bavarians Julian Nagelsmann to take charge of the national team. Former Leipzig and Bayern boss has accepted to incur a huge pay cut as he has reportedly got the clearance from Bundesliga champions to shoulder the responsibility of German National side.
Nagelsmann to replace Flick
Julian Nagelsmann- the name which once became a household importance in Germany owing to his exploits with serial Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich, has reportedly been cleared to vouch for national team responsibilities, as he is summoned by the National Team. He would be assigned to the role till UEFA European Championship 2024, and is replacing his predecessor at Bayern and now in Germany, Hansi Flick. Nagelsmann came to the managerial fore when he was at RB Leipzig, and was reputedly seizing opponents’ sleep with his master tactics. Later, his meteoric rise in the coaching stint came to knowledge when Bayern Munich, the Bavarian giants signed him in 2021, for a reported fee of 25 million euros, making him the most expensive manager, He was awarded with his exceptional style of coaching which saw him reap his rewards, as he won the Bundesliga in his debut season.
But, in an unexpected turn of events, he was relieved off his duties this year, in March, and was replaced by former Chelsea and PSG boss Thomas Tuchel. Flick, on the other hand, became the first manager in German football history to be dismissed from the portfolio position, as his side slumped to a humiliating defeat in the hands of Japanese side, comprising the likes of Brighton star Kauru Mitoma among other names. Hansi Flick would always be remembered for his deadly emotional gaze on the sidelines, whether it could be a 8-2 thrashing of Barcelona.
A huge pay-cut on the way
Owing to Hansi Flick’s poor performances with the National team, which saw the failure of 2014 World Cup champions to advance the group stage, he was scrutinized since then. After nine months and a 1-4 thrashing in the hands of Japan, Flick is relieved off his duties as his last game was a nail in the coffin. According to German news outlet Bild, it was confirmed that Nagelsmann, although he has remained in a contract under Bayern Munich till 2026, he has been given the green signal to join the National forces, and might be seen on the sidelines for October’s friendly against USA, when the clubs go on international break.
Julian has been out of work since Bayern was involved in a tight race in the Bundesliga table. With the league nearing its business end, Tuchel was heard, and the Champions League winner with Chelsea won the league for the Bavarians. Nagelsmann is slated to take a huge pay cut which embodies his dedication for the country, as he will be earning a gross amount of 4 million euros for DFB, which is subsequently less than 26 million euros he used to earn for the Bavarians. Thus, with a new boss at the helm, senior players like Neuer, Ter Stegen and Mueller will look to up their ante as Germany would look to kickstart their international journey with a new force at the top.
