Kai Havertz: German striker reignites interest in joining Real Madrid

Kai Havertz, the German international has been one of the top players in Chelsea since the last few decades. As speculations insist, he might be one of the potential targets for Real Madrid if top striker Karim Benzema leaves the club in the next season.

Real Madrid keen on signing Kai Havertz

Real Madrid had suffered a shock amidst the business end of La Liga, when their top performer over the years Karim Benzema had submitted his decision to leave the “Los Blancos” after 14 years. He is rumored to join Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad in the next season, igniting the rivalry against his long time friend and striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays at Al-Nassr, who came a close second this season.

After this shock decision of “Big Benz”, people across the capital city of Spain had started to plan and identify some of their potential targets in the attack for next season. President Florentino Perez had shown interest over Argentine world cup winner Lautaro Martinez, but according to recent rumors which had surfaced in the transfer market, Real is interested in signing star Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, with the “Blues” being open for transfer talks regarding him.

“Admired” by Real boss

It has come to notice that Real boss Carlo Ancelotti and Kai Havertz has crossed their path many times in recent years. Starting from their Bundesliga era, when Ancelotti was at Bayern’s helm, Havertz was wreaking havoc at his former club Bayer Leverkusen.

It was at the German club that he gathered worldwide interest with top clubs closely following his updates and it was London club Chelsea who splashed on him and got the star attacker. Not surprisingly, it was Kai’s goal in the UEFA Champions League final which sealed the deal for Thomas Tuchel’s side, winning 1-0 against nemesis Manchester City.

After that, Real Madrid and Chelsea had met several times in the Champions League, with Ancelotti “admiring” the German striker.

Tough to stop

If Karim Benzema signs the multi-million deal with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, then he might be replaced by Kai Havertz, as it stands on the present scenario. If it happens, newly appointed Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will find it difficult to stop the striker from parting ways with the club.

In Stamford Bridge, he has proved his mettle numerous occasions and has been labelled as one of the clutch players in the club, saving Chelsea’s blushes most of the time. He is the highest scorer of Chelsea in the current campaign as most of his teammates struggled in front of the goal, so he is up for grabs in the next season.
