Manchester City’s veteran defender Kyle Walker has put pen on paper a contract extension which will see him at the club for three more years, as he will be sporting the City colors till 2026. One of the seasoned mainstays for Pep Guardiola’s side, Walker joined the club six years ago, in 2017, and will be looking forward to spend three more years at the Etihad.

Kyle Walker has been one of the pivotal members in Pep’s side after arriving in 2017. Owing to his exploits in the defensive full-back position, he has earned several jewels to his name, as he belongs to one of the rare breeds of players who is omnipresent in the field. Starting from defense to helping midfielders in placing inch-perfect passes which further encompasses scoring goals, Walker has been everywhere. He has sported the City colors in 260 appearances, making him one of the long-serving stars in Etihad. With a dazzling trophy cabinet comprising five Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 Community Shields and the most coveted Champions League which came last year, one could not easily write off Walker’s career in a nutshell.
Walker was heard saying about his contract extension, when he said, “I’m thrilled to sign a new deal. My future is with Manchester City and that is the best thing for me. I’ve enjoyed every single moment of the past six years at this fantastic Club. I have an amazing coach, great team-mates and staff and our fans are the best. I feel supported on every single level.”
Reportedly, Walker’s contract extension was announced in a cinematic way when he personified Leonardo DiCaprio’s masterclass character Jordan Belfort in the film “The Wolf of Wall Street”, as he said, “I’m not leaving”, with his City teammates rejoicing the news. He further said, “The Treble-winning season is one I will never forget and we’re ready to go again and try to win more trophies. I am delighted to continue at a Club that competes for trophies every year and I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring. “

With Walker’s extension, everyone at City is very happy to see one of their favorites to continue at the club. Club’s Sporting Director Txiki Begiristain has expressed his elation on Walker’s continuity as he said,” We are very happy that Kyle will be here until 2026. Walker will be continuing at the club being the most decorated player, with his trophy cabinet worthy boasting of with five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields and most recent inclusion of UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup. In his debut campaign in City, he was named in PFA Team of the Year 2017/18 alongside Sergio Aguero and David Silva, two legendary figures of City football. In the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, he has been happily shouldering the responsibility of wearing the privileged captain’s armband as Walker would look to win more titles for his favorite club in the present season.
