Lamine Yamal: Barcelona agrees to give professional contract to youngster

Lamine Yamal set a milestone a few days back when he was fielded in the match against Real Betis on Sunday. He became the youngest Barca player to take the field at 15 years. Born in 2007, Yamal created this record which might be hard to be broken in the coming days.

Just after playing his first game at the senior level, the Catalan club is set to reach an agreement with the La Masia gem, which might see him play in the next season regularly for the senior team.

Lamine Yamal: One for the future

Yamal debuted for Barcelona in the 83rd minute when he substituted another La Masia graduate Gavi. He was called up to the senior team against Atletico de Madrid for his brilliant performances in the academy matches.

Owing to this, he was included in the squad and created history when he came to the field in the dying minutes of the game. His magic on the field was quite visible in the little time he played, with almost scoring a goal, only to be stopped by Betis goalie Rui Silva.

He mesmerized Camp Nou with his quick feet and impeccable dribbling skills, with Xavi comparing him with young Messi soon after the historical game.

According to Roger Saperas, Yamal and Barcelona are on the verge of agreeing a contract, which is supposed to have a release clause in it. Yamal will be able to sign the contract once he turns 16. This contract will guarantee his continuity at Camp Nou.

His rapid rise has been prominent through the ranks of La Masia, with their once-star man Ansu Fati failing to find his groove as injuries have plagued him since his inception on the field.

As for Yamal, he might look to break more records in the coming days as he can become the youngest La Liga winner at the age of 15 in the next week if second-placed Real Madrid drops points against Real Sociedad, provided Barca wins against Espanyol.
