Lionel Messi and his transfer saga seems to have taken a new fold as it has been reported that the Argentine world cup winner is considering a move to the United States club Inter Miami in the next season. Multiple transfer market experts like Argentine Hernan Castillo and Gerard Romero has reported about this news.
Lionel Messi reported to try his trade in the States
Messi has been one of the best players this season, both for his club PSG and country. His ultimate success came in December when he lifted the much awaited World Cup, which added a feather to his stellar career.
Despite performing on the top, he had fallen out with his club in the business end of the season, when club board had suspended him for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia. As a result of which, Messi had decided that he will not be renewing any contract proposal from the French Champions, which led all of the clubs to look for him in the next transfer market.
His former club and “home” FC Barcelona are leading the race to sign him, but in an unexpected turn of events, several other heavyweights like Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal and MLS giants Inter Miami also joined the race to sign him.
Three-way race for the GOAT?
According to recent reports, three clubs, FC Barcelona, Saudi Arabian Al-Hilal and MLS heavyweights Inter Miami are in the race to sign the best player in the world. He is more linked to join hands with his former teammate Xavi in Barcelona as it was always touted to be his next destination.
But, La Liga was not approving Barcelona’s plan and the La Liga champions were stuck in the Financial Fair Play ruckus, until few days ago when La Liga had approved their plan, which explained their ability to sign the player amidst several financial hindrances.
Destination United States?
Few days ago, Messi’s father Jorge Messi had informed the desire of Messi to return to Barcelona, but according to Argentine reporter and transfer market expert Castillo, the move to Miami has already been made possible as there will be “no more meetings” with Florida’s largest city to become Messi’s destination for the next season.
Three years back in 2020, Messi had informed his desire to live in the United States and “experience what the league there is like”. It looks that soon this dream might be turning into a reality as according to Argentine sports newspaper Ole, the deal with Inter Miami is already “advancing in silence” as his most favored club FC Barcelona is unable to make any official proposal to the legend.
The next few days will be very important as both the clubs and Messi will have to come up with some solution as time is fleeting by.
