Lionel Messi: Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas predicts a sweet farewell in Barcelona for the star, says “I will help him”

Lionel Messi might return at Barcelona as his present employer Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas has indicated a sweet gesture from the Catalan giants, saying “he deserves a correct goodbye”. On top of that, he has assured every Culer of helping this act of kindness by hook or by crook.

Messi and Barcelona- a sweet love story

Lionel Messi, one of the greats of football and FC Barcelona, has been one of the undisputed rulers of the football kingdom. Along with generational rival Cristiano Ronaldo, both of them have reigned supremely on the pinnacle and have tasted success over a considerable period of time. Messi had been the face of Barcelona for more than 2 decades, and Ronaldo the same for Real Madrid for a decade. If someone goes down the memory lane, it will look as one of the sweetest love stories in the history of football for the “Little boy from Rosario”. He has won every possible accolade possible, and has a trophy cabinet which could be worth boasting for. But, like all romantic films from the television, this story should have had a poetic ending, which was not in the case for Messi, as his camaraderie with Barca did not have a good climax.

In 2021, after Messi shut his critics when he proved himself on the international stage by clinching the Copa America, defeating Brazil 1-0, courtesy Angel Di Maria’s screamer, he was compelled to leave the Spanish giants in 2021, with club board citing reasons of financial shackles. As a result, Messi tearfully left Camp Nou, thus joining French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, united with former Barca mate Neymar.

Messi at PSG- a bittersweet saga

After leaving Barcelona, Messi joined PSG, thus uniting with two great players Mbappe and Neymar, thus forming a dream front three troika, and went on to achieve several accolades like Ligue 1, Coupe de France among others. But, few months back, he went on to the ‘bad’ books for PSG fans when he went to Saudi Arabia on a business trip, which did not go well with PSG club board and supporters alike, thus leading him to be barred from entering the club premises. Messi posted an apology video, taking to social media, and at that point, every football supporter knew, he would not be renewing his contract at the French capital, as it was evident that all was not quiet on the French front.

Messi in Miami as a new chapter unfolds

Messi got the chance to relish his dream of playing on the American soil, as he joined David Beckham owned side Inter Miami, and is already on song as he has been on target three times in two fixtures for the Americans, leading them to two consecutive victories in the Leagues Cup, announcing his debut with a trademark Messi-esque free-kick on the 94th minute.

Recenlty, co-owner Jorge Mas said that he believes Messi was not given a proper send-off in 2021, as stands were closed due to the raging pandemic at that time. He was heard speaking in Taylor Twellman podcast, “I don’t know if it’s some type of friendly or farewell game. They have this Gamper Trophy they play for in the summer. But there will be something where, hopefully when the new Camp Nou is open, because their stadium there they will not be playing in for the next year and a half, hopefully, Lionel Messi can say his proper goodbye.”

However, he has brushed aside any rumors of loaning the star to Spain, as he said, “That does not entail playing for Barcelona. He’s not going to go on loan there. That’s not going to happen. Yes, he deserves his correct goodbye there. Yes, and I will do everything in my power in order to facilitate and help him do that.”

So, fans at Barcelona will look forward to the day when Camp Nou is finally open to them, and when they will be able to greet their favorite hero, maybe for one last dance.
