Napoli: CEO confirms departure of boss Luciano Spalletti after a dream season

Luciano Spaletti, the boss of Napoli, has decided to leave the club at the end of season. He has guided his team to their first Scudetto after three decades, owing to the likes of Victor Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia- who have provided an impetus to the season and led to the victory in the league.

Luciano Spalletti to bid adieu to the club

Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis has informed the decision of the departure of Spalletti. Speculations were already going on the Italian media about this news but after the end of the season, it is confirmed that he will be leaving the club on a high note, after leading them to a Scudetto win.

The club is already looking for a replacement for him, but it has come to the notice that they might want to improve their contract proposal for Spalletti, which is not of a lot of interest for him.

“A free man”

Napoli CEO de Laurentiis was recently asked in an interview at Che Tempo Che Fa about the future of Spalletti. He was heard saying, “Spalletti is a free man. When someone says he thinks he’s achieved his best and wants to take a gap year, it’s right to leave him free. He told me he had a contract for another year, but he wanted to stop. I could never tell him no? He gave us so much and I thank him.”

Spalletti has played a pivotal role in the fairytale run of Napoli this season. His immaculate planning and fielding the perfect eleven in every games was the talk of the season as he went on to become a legend in Naples, after they won the title 33 years later. Napoli last won the league in 1990, with Maradona at the helm of the Italian club.

This season, the club has had a different run this season. With the efforts and contributions of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen and his Georgian strike partner Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, along with other players, Maradona’s former club was notched up in heaven and was praised all around the world for their starry performance.

“I thought I could win the Scudetto”

De Laurentiis also spoke about the famous Scudetto win in the press conference. He quoted, “Yes, I found myself in a press conference at the beginning of June, we had sent away many players who had finished their cycle in Naples even if not everyone was of the same idea. They asked me what I was thinking of doing and I said I thought I could win the Scudetto. There was general dismay, even on the part of Spalletti who did not yet know who we had bought.”

Napoli is looking for possible replacement in the form of Luis Enrique and it is speculated that contract proposal has already been made for the Spaniard, now it depends what will be the response from the former Spanish national team boss.
