Manchester City: Laporte, Gundogan and Silva may have celebrated their last League title

Manchester City have recently been crowned the champions of Premier League, yet again. With Arsenal sacrificing a healthy lead on the points table after a string of poor performances, it was expected for City to grab a hold of the title as they were on hot pursuit of the Gunners.

Laporte, Silva and Gundogan likely to leave City

Manchester City might let go of their top three players in the next season as rumors of their departure have been hovering since the past few days in the transfer market. Laporte might be the first one to leave the “Cityzens” after featuring in the title-winning season. He had been in the second-string side for the club in the fixture against Chelsea. He strolled the Etihad after being named in the starting eleven and was seen getting emotional in the title celebrations.

He got down the pecking order, and might be the first one to leave City after getting less time in this season under Pep. Once a starter, after Akanji and Dias had started the games , he might get the axe ahead of the next season.

Skipper to leave?

It has been quite the speculations about captain Gundogan’s departure from the club next season, as he seem to go for the “Spanish fairytale”, as rumors of him joining Barcelona are getting stronger everyday. He had been one of the strongest and deadliest players for Pep and has thronged the attack along with fellow midfielder Bernardo Silva and Kevin de Bruyne.

He might set for a newer destination along with Portuguese midfield stalwart Bernardo Silva, who was also linked to Barcelona next season. Both Silva and Gundogan were given standing ovations when they were warming up, but were not fielded ahead of all important matches like Champions League final among other important games.

Kalvin Phillips offers promising first start

The former Leeds player Kalvin Philips had merely 100 minutes to his name, as he had made nine appearances under Pep, after joining last season. He made a record of becoming the champion even before starting a game this season, and finally he made his presence felt as he started in the game against Chelsea.

He has been a bench-warmer for City, but in his first start yesterday, he was the top performer as he had efficiently dribbled past the “Blues” players, boasted a good control of the ball, and had the makeshift midfield filled with passes and pace.

Sterling, an old friend

Raheem Sterling was one of the comeback stories that City would have looked for. He went close on a number of occasions, but was always denied by the City defense. He had been one of the important strikers of City and had contributed to the club’s title glory for four times. Although he was greeted by some light-hearted jeers and whistles, he was applauded when he was substituted as the fans started his old song, “he’s top of the league”, with the City fans appreciating their former number 7.

Cole Palmer-one to look for the future

Cole Palmer had been one of the important youngsters that City would boast of in the coming days. Although he had seen his chances hard to come by as he was set to compete with Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish, he got his first chance to start the season, and excelled equally. He almost scored a world-class goal, only to be cleared by Chelsea defense, and had fed Julian Alvarez to score the opener.
