Real Madrid edged past Italian side AC Milan 3-2, courtesy a iconic brace from midfielder Fede Valverde, as “Los Blancos” squeeze past “Rossoneri” in a friendly on the American soil. Madrid’s latest star recruit from Borussia Dortmund, Jude Bellingham, made his debut in the match as Madrid started their preparations for the next season in full swing.
Valverde double helps Real edge Milan
Real Madrid and AC Milan locked horns in Pasadena, in one of their pre-season friendlies, as the European heavyweights treated spectators with their might. Both the teams were engaged in an intense battle as were set to snatch their bragging rights from the other. In the end, it was Ancelotti’s men who sealed the deal for the night, with Uruguayan Fede Valverde striking the back of the net twice in a span of two minutes.
Both the sides battled out a gripping first half, looking for an opener, but could not find their luck owing to some fantastic display from the back line, till 25th minute, when former Chelsea’a promising star Fikayo Tomori handed the lead to the Rossoneris, thus presenting an upset for Madrid.
Along with Tomori, the first goal was contributed equally by Milan’s latest American recruit Christian Pulisic, whose assist from the corner proved fruitful for the Italians, when Tomori headed home the opener, arching above a sturdy Real defense.
Young guns on the rise
Milan’s second goal was nothing short of a wonder, as 18-year old Argentine Luka Romero slotted home the shot, from near-edge of the box, giving Milan a hefty lead of 2-0 before half time. But, after the half-time break, Milan seemed to have lost control of their bridge as they seemed tottering against a line-up comprising the likes of Vinicius, Valverde and debutant Bellingham.
On the 57th minute, a pedestrian effort from Valverde saw the Spanish giants restore some pride to their name as the Latin midfielder netted past Milan keeper Sportiello, in a rather seemingly effortless manner, thus ushering some Madrid supporters in the stadium, a ray of hope.
The second goal was a proof that what Valverde can perform if there is a mishap in the back line, as a minor blunder among the Milan defenders saw Valverde reclaim the bragging rights, reclaiming parity with the scoreline tied 2-2. But, it was clearly Vinicius’s night as the Brazilian talent scored the winner in the dying minutes of the game, thus snatching Madrid’s fate from them, as the match ended 3-2 in Ancelotti’s favor.
Debut of Bellingham
Jude Bellingham, the most sought after midfielder in the recent age, made his debut for Real Madrid as he was instrumental in keeping the ball in possession for the Spanish side. From his swift touches and immaculate passing accuracy, it justified that Bellingham might have started to fit in the squad, quite benevolently.
