Bayern Munich has not had the dominating season they are used to over the years. They have not found success in cup competitions, and even their league title is still a debatable affair.
Among these, there have been several rumors of big names leaving the club next season, and Sadio Mane and Joao Cancelo are definitely one of them.
Sadio Mane to leave Bayern Munich
After a long and successful stint with Liverpool, Mane traveled to Germany in search of a new challenge. However, that challenge has turned out o be too much for him.
The Senegal forward has not managed to turn up for his side in the entire tournament. He has just 12 goals to his name, which by his standards, is a little bad. Hence, when the new boss arrived, he couldn’t find a place in the squad.
And his spat with fellow teammate Leroy Sane didn’t help his cause either. After Bayern Munich’s loss against Manchester City, the two players were reported to have been involved in a petty spat, and Mane had punched Sane.
Later there were images of Sane’s swollen face confirming the same. Mane was even suspended for a few games after the incident. And his fate was almost sealed.
“A lot of players have distanced themselves from Mane – he’s a candidate for sale in the summer, he has a high salary and Thomas Tuchel has no real plans to work with him next season.”Sky Sports Reported
Bayern Munich to not trigger Joao Cancelo buying clause
Joao Cancelo has been in troubled waters all season. After being a regular candidate in the 2021/22 season for Manchester City, he found himself often benched in the current season.
After making the loan move, the Portugal full-back said: “I’ve not had much game time in the past few weeks, which influenced my decision. There was speculation that my relationship with Pep was not the best, but the fact is I wanted to play more.’
As a result of which, he decided to go out on a loan for more game time. But that has not been the case at Bayern. A player of Cancelo’s caliber cannot be expected to acclimatize to the new surroundings this early. And so has been the case with him.
The player has only appeared for the side in 19 games and put on a good performance by providing six assists and scoring 1 goal as well. However, he doesn’t seem to be the one for the future of Bayern.
Hence, despite having the option to buy him at the end of the season, Bayern is letting him go.
There is a lot of interest shown in Cancelo, with reports claiming his return to Madrid. Either party has confirmed anything of that sort.
This means that there are high chances of both players returning Premier League football next season as Bayern looks to build afresh under this new boss Thomas Tuchel.
