Sergio Busquets: Former Barcelona captain joins MLS side Inter Miami, to be reunited with former mate Lionel Messi

In one of the most whirlwind transfers of the summer, former Barcelona captain and legend Sergio Busquets have joined David Beckham owned side Inter Miami, to play in MLS expectedly in the next few days. On top of that, Miami will be able to witness the Messi-Busi magic after Busquets have a remarkable reunion with former Barca mate Lionel Messi, who has also switched his club from PSG to the American side.

Sergio Busquets joins Inter Miami

Busquets has been one of the top stars for Barcelona over the decades. He made the cut to the first team under Pep, more than 15 years ago and has been one of the elites ever to play for the La Liga champions. He has clinched the coveted La Liga title nine times, the latest being this year, when he had captained the side. He has also etched his name on the record books after winning the World Cup in 2010, followed by another silverware in 2012, with an European Championship glory.

Considered one of the legends of the midfield setup in Barcelona, he was an integral part of the famous troika comprising Xavi and Iniesta, who had been an opponents’ nightmare since ages. He would always be remembered in the Catalan city as the tall, lanky guy who used to incorporate his eye-soothing skills, and who has mastered the art of passing the ball, being named as a “Tiki-Taka” legend, a tactic employed by Pep when he was at helm in Barcelona.

American soil to witness the magic of the duo

Busquets will be joined by former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi who has also joined the American side after his departure from PSG, as some consider it to be a tumultuous one as all was not well on the French front. As a result, Messi will also don the Miami jersey in the coming days, and was unveiled as their new No. 10 last night, where DRV Pink Stadium was filled with spectators to catch a glimpse of their star.

Busquets and Messi have played together in Barcelona for more than a decade, and they have been inspiring several youngsters with their play, over the years in Camp Nou. The swift pass from Busquets coupled with Messi’s sublime finish- a scene that would now be a routine for Miami fans, as they would get to see this enterprising duo over the weekend.

Miami owner Jorge Mas added to his speech, explaining the expertise and experience Busquets will bring to the squad, as he said, “I am excited to welcome Sergio Busquets to Inter Miami. Since day one we have set out to bring the world’s best players to Inter Miami. Sergio’s repertoire speaks for itself.”

Miami will brace itself for a classy weekend as they will be able to witness the art of football at work, getting awestruck by the Messi-Busi magic, which will now take a center stage in the American soil, after doing the same for Barcelona over the years.
