La Liga champions Barcelona has made a superior move in the summer transfer window as they have grabbed the opportunity to sign Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque from Brazilian side Atletico Paranaense. The promising youngster is slated to arrive in the Catalan in the next winter transfer, in January 2024.
Vitor Roque to join FC Barcelona
Brazil has been one of the powerhouses of street smart football since ages. Be it the legendary Pele to current stars like Neymar, Vinicius Junior, it has always housed several stars and their apprentices over the years. Their uprising talents and achievements have always proved worthwhile as their five world cup triumphs align with them, justifying their finesse.
Brazil and FC Barcelona- they have a unique camaraderie which they have shared over the years. Starting with the Samba superstar Ronaldinho who did leave Camp Nou in awe of his skills and technical prowess, to talented “wonderkid” Neymar, who arrived in the Spanish giants after a swashbuckling spell in Santos FC, Barcelona has always been one of the best places for Brazilians to showcase their football skills and finesse.
Another “wonderkid” is slated to don the Catalan colors, following Neymar’s footsteps as Vitor Roque, a 2005 born, who is considered to be high priority and equally talented, will join the La Liga champions from January 2024. This huge signing was speculated over the last couple of days as Barcelona had claimed reports of signing the forward.
Addition to bolster the attack
Vitor Roque’s addition will prove valuable in the upcoming season as Barcelona were desperately in need of a substitute striker for Lewandowski, with the Polish at the swansong of his career. The versatility that Roque brings to the club will be worth for Xavi as he would look to play the starlet in several positions. For his club in Atletico Parananense, he has been on top form due to his goalscoring ability and tactical prowess, owing to his runs across the field on wings to center, which makes him more competitive for others as he can be utilized in various other places. Barcelona had faced a stiff competition to sign the star for several other European heavyweights like Manchester United, PSG.
For his current club, he has made 65 senior appearances, registering his name on the scoresheet 22 times and assisting 8 of them to his teammates. He has grabbed the eye of critics in the final third over the last few months owing to his impeccable runs, and blasting shots in the back of the net. A “technically gifted” star, as he is touted by several football pundits, his inclusion to the Catalans would give Xavi the chance to explore his attacking options.
The transfer fee is expected to hover around 35-40 million euros mark, and the starlet is slated to impress Camp Nou till 2029.
